LOCATION

La Ronde is located 4km due West of Moncoutant and 12 km North of La Chataigneraie (Vendee). The Vendee border is just 2km from the property.

It is a small rural village containing the commune Mairie, a Salle de Fetes and a sports ground. There are no shops but there is a restaurant open for lunches and evening meals. There is daily bread delivery. Butcher and charcuterie vehicles visit twice a week. There are a variety of supermarkets in the vicinity plus all usual shops, banks etc. An electrician, plumber, blacksmith and carpenter all reside in the village and builders can be found in nearby towns.

Poitiers (Ryanair), La Rochelle (Flybe, Easyjet & Ryanair) and Nantes (Ryanair, BA & Air France) airports are under 90 minutes away. St Malo is 3 hours away, Caen 4 hours, Cherbourg 5 hours, Paris 6 hours and Calais 7.5 hours.

(Touristy bit!) A popular fishing and aquatic centre, Pescalis, is 4km away. The nearest large coastal resorts are La Tranche sur Mer or La Rochelle (1 hour 20), the Loire valley – Angers or Saumur - 1 hour 30 to the North, Cognac is less than 2 hours away. Futuroscope is located at Poitiers (90 minutes) and the Puy de Fou is 30 minutes away

The property itself is in the tiny rural village of Riblaire. The nearest shops are about 5/10 mins car drive away - the small towns of St Varent and Airvault where there is a small supermarket, chemists, bakers, tabac etc. The village is about 20 minutes away from the very large historical town of Thouars where you can find every shop etc and 20 mins in the opposite direction you have Parthenay which is wonderful for shopping too. Both very picturesque and ancient towns with great local markets.



We have very kind and sociable neighbours, who although do not speak English they couldn't be more helpful and friendly. There are 3 (we think) English couples owning houses in the village too.



The property is 50 mins away from Poitiers and an hour and 20 mins from Tours. It takes around 2 hours to get to the coast (La Rochelle - beautiful beach and bustling port).
